End of the Winter Season 2021

After a couple of rescheduled, we held the club AGM on 18 September at Lake Rotoiti School. It was a very good AGM probably due to the great sausages, fantastic skiing, and service we had been experiencing up on the mountain that day. Also due to the turnout of members who contributed excellent feedback to us and shared their ideas. You can read the minutes of the meeting and the reports on our website under
https://skirainbow.co.nz/about/rainbow-sports-club

While you are there, please take a look at the history that Helen Rance and Katharine Vadura have put together of our club, we are grateful for them both.

It is very important I start by thanking Tom Harry and his Team. During the low snow at the start of the season, and level two restrictions they managed to keep smiles on their faces and the mountain operating as best as they could. The feedback about our mountain team this year has been exceptional, and we hope most of them return next year.

As a club, we are always looking at ways to improve our ski field and expand our club. We currently have our focus on the renewal of our license with DOC. We also have three key projects on the go.

Firstly we would like to do more within the club. The feedback we get from families is having adventures in the mountains provides for the best memories, so we have set up a Club Social Subcommittee with a look to running three or four club events per year. This includes summer and wintertime. If you are interested in helping with this, please email me.

Secondly, we are proposing some early season work parties starting next month to get ontop of some needed building maintenance. There will be some dates announced on facebook for mid and late November. We are specifically looking for building and plumbing help, but any help is appreciated please email Tom.

Thirdly, we have started a Fund-Raising Sub Committee. We are looking to extend our snow making. This would allow us, (as best we can) to guarantee we can open for the first winter school holidays and shut at the end of the second school holidays. We would also like to replace our aging groomer so we can enjoy smooth corduroy on-piste. Again, if you can help with this then please get in touch with Paula on her email.

I trust you did have a chance to experience the mountain this year. While lockdown did interrupt the best snow of the season there were some great days to be had. We look forward to seeing you back next year and maybe at a club event, the very popular Rainbow Rogaine or a work party over summer.

Regards
