Club

The Rainbow Ski Area is owned and operated by the Rainbow Sports Club Inc. Membership is open to anyone interested in ongoing road-accessed ski/boarding in the Top of the South. The Club has a Committee (currently seven members), and employs staff to manage and operate the field.

Summer Work Parties

Help out with working parties – our club thrives on volunteer contribution both on and off-field. During the summer / autumn, hundreds of man-days of work are contributed servicing, repairing and maintaining equipment and buildings. Member volunteers working for two or more work party days on the ski field will be recognised for their efforts in the form of credits towards lift and seasons passes.

The 2012 Summer Maintenance programme will kick off on Saturday the 11th of February, and continue on every second weekend (weather permitting) until the end of May. Scheduled weekend dates are:

  • February 11th/12th
  • February 25th/26th
  • March 10th/11th
  • March 31st/April 1st (postponed from 24th/25th )
  • (no workparty on Easter weekend)
  • April 14th/15th
  • April 28th/29th
  • May 12th/13th
  • May 26th/27th
We welcome all interested volunteers who want to come up for one or both of the work party days on these weekends. Some accommodation is available on-field for anyone who wants to stay Saturday night. Note that these dates may change due to weather conditions and other factors, and on-field accommodation is limited so it is essential that anyone planning to come up lets us know first by emailing members@skirainbow.co.nz or calling 03-5211861.

More information on the 2012 Summer Maintenance programme can be found in the following documents:
