The forecasters are hinting at a respite in the weather on Wednesday that may allow us to open the field for the first time since the storm hit last Thursday, so keep your eyes on the
snow report in the morning for an update.
New snow so far is 1.2M and it has continued to snow on and off today. There will be ample groomed main trails and un-groomed off-piste terrain to keep everyone happy.
If we do open on Wednesday then take note of the following information:
- There has been snowfall to the valley floor from the SH63 turn-off, and cold temperatures for the last five days. Please keep your speed down in the valley and on the access road and watch for ice, particularly at the fords.
- The Backcountry Avalanche Advisory for Nelson lakes is currently "High". Travel in the backcountry is not advised due to avalanche risk, please stay within our patrolled boundaries until the risk eases.
- All vehicles on our access road must carry chains, whether or not you are required to fit them on the day. If you don't have chains take the shuttle - please don't be the person who blocks access for everyone else by skidding into the ditch.
