Rainbow Blog

Tomorrow, Thursday, we will be opening the main T-Bar for the first time this season. Our snow-making crew have been working flat out for the last few weeks in perfect conditions to add more cover to our natural snow-base, and we now have enough cover to open the main part of the field for the first time this season.

Like many other ski areas further from the coast, Rainbow has missed some of the snowfall from the southeast storms that tend to come early in the winter. Luckily though we also have a good snow-making system and plenty of water to top up our natural snow, and our new Pisten Bully PB300 groomer has helped by grooming the snow to perfection. We also expect some more natural snow to fall over Friday night making for a great weekend coming up. Here's what it looked like for the first few lucky skiers who had a chance to hop on during our testing today:

So, if you've been holding off coming up to Rainbow now is the time to pack the car and head on up. The access road is in superb condition, the weather is perfect, and we don't have the icy snow conditions that some of the more coastal ski areas are experiencing.

Note that the T-Bar is only operating to Tower 7 (about two thirds of the way up the mountain), and there are no green (beginner) trails down from the T-Bar just yet. Our beginner and intermediate slopes are fully operational, though, so there is something available for every ability.

Rainbow Shuttles are operating if you need a ride up the access road, the Rainbow Cafe has an extensive menu of delicious hot food, sandwiches, snacks and drinks, and the Rainbow Ski School and Rentals departments are there if you want a lesson or gear.

Don't forget to check the Rainbow Snowphone 0832 22605 or the snow report page for conditions before coming up!

T-Bar Fully Open

The T-Bar is now open all of the way to the top of the mountain. Fresh snow fall over the last two days has added enough to our existing base to give great conditions from top to bottom. Easy Way is also now open providing beginner and intermediate access to the base from the T-Bar.
