Over the last seven days about 2.3 metres of snow has fallen on Rainbow, with heaviest snowfall from Wednesday through to Thursday morning when about 50cm fell during a 24 hour period. This snow has consolidated into a base of about 1.3 metres, with deeper drifts in many places. Read more ...
After three days of continuous, steady, snowfall a brief respite today allowed us to open Rainbow for the 2011 Season, and the first keen skiers and riders to come up for some runs. The mountain has been transformed by a good coating of snow from top to bottom, and down below bushline on the access road. A bit late, but yes winter is definitely here now. We have a good coating of snow on the upper mountain, and the cold temperatures we need to make snow on the lower slopes. Steady falls of snow are also forecast over much of the next week. Best of all most of this weather is coming from westerly weather, which is the best direction for Rainbow. Read more ...
