Rainbow traditionally gets its best snowfalls in September as the Antarctic oscillation weakens and this year is no exception. Tuesday saw 10-15cm of fresh cold light powder over the entire field on top of the existing 1.5M or thereabouts base (yes, our official depths on the snow reports are very conservative - just check out how much of the 2M snow fences on the field are buried next time you're up). Coming from the south-west this snow was delivered with cold temperatures and light winds - the perfect combination for great skiing off-piste.
Of course our groomer was hard at work keeping the main runs groomed for those who prefer not to stray off-piste (the grooming has been great this year, hasn't it?)
We're expecting a bit more of this over the next few days so keep an eye on the snow report and clear your diary - most of the RWC games are at night so no excuses there!
