We are recruiting for all positions as detailed below. Some roles will be filled by our loyal base of returning staff. Please read through all of the information detailed below and on our website, here you will find specific information to Rainbow Ski Area, the club that is the foundation to the ski area, and information on the Nelson Marlborough region.

Rainbow Ski Area employs 35-40 fulltime staff and 5-10 part-time staff during the winter season. Typically the season runs from early July to early October. We have roles which require differing ranges of experience and qualifications, however there is always a place for the Legend applicant who is positive, energetic, customer oriented, and willing to learn! All applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand (hold a current Working Holiday Visa for the duration of the season), and be able to communicate to an acceptable spoken and written level of English.
POSITIONS FOR THE 2017 WINTER
| Ticket Office Staff
Fun and friendly customer minded with a high level of spoken and written English. You will need to be experienced in cash handling and POS systems along with a friendly and attentive personality.
| Ticket Office Supervisor
This role is to supervise all aspects of the Ticket Office, daily operations, cash handling, products and POS systems. A key element of this role is Social Media and Marketing, previous experience and qualifications required.
| Ski Technician/ Rental Fitters
Experienced in repairing and tuning ski & board equipment. Pleasant outgoing manner with a tidy appearance required to the busy hire service.
| Snow School Supervisor
This role is to supervise all aspects of Snow School, daily operations, products, scheduling. Previous experience in a similar role and a ski or snowboard qualification preferred.
| Ski & Snowboard instructors/qualified race coaches
As ambassadors for the sport and of course the mighty Rainbow you will be energetic and adaptable to anything you are faced with while enjoying being an important part of the friendly atmosphere. With Qualification NZSIA level one (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement.
| Mountain Shuttle Supervisor
The role involves the daily management of the department. It also includes driving of the 4WD shuttle vehicles in a safe and comfortable manner transporting passengers up the mountain from the base of the access road. Passenger endorsement with NZ drivers licence is required and a class 2 would be a benefit. Alpine driving experience is essential to operate our 4wd Mitsubishi Rosa's.
| Mountain Shuttle Drivers
This role includes driving the mountain staff from St Arnaud daily along with our shuttle service operated from the bottom of the mountain road (8km) to the base are. You will be a punctual and considerate customer oriented person who enjoys welcoming guest to their journey to Rainbow while having an up most professional and safe manner towards safety and your passengers. Passenger endorsement with NZ drivers licence is required and a class 2 would be a benefit. Alpine driving experience is essential to operate our 4wd Mitsubishi Rosa's.
Applicants will be dynamic and practical in their approach to work while being able to work varied shifts. The ability to work in cold & harsh environment is essential as is being physically fit. Previous experience with snowmaking and grooming machinery is preferred. This position is a live on mountain role where accommodation will be provided. While not snow making this role will include maintenance, road operations and general work around the resort. Current drivers licence is required and WTR an advantage.
| Groomer Operator
Duties include the operation and basic maintenance of
our Kassbohrer PB300 and PB200 snow groomers. It is essential that applicants
possess; Current drivers licence with WTR, a minimum of 4 winter seasons experience in the operation of Pisten
Bully snow groomers, grooming down hill ski slopes and terrain parks. Working
knowledge of heavy machinery and a strong mechanical aptitude. You will bring a
can do attitude and not be afraid of hard work to achieve the task at hand. Snow making experience would be an advantage. This is a live on mountain role and accommodation will be provided
|Roads / Maintenance
We are looking for a multi skilled person to ensure the mountain road remains operation, open and safe. To be considered for this role you MUST have a current NZ drivers licence and WTR endorsements (Class 2 and P licence is also preferred). Experience operating a front end loader, tractors and towing heavy trailers and driving in alpine conditions (snow and ice). Physically fit and healthy and clean driving record. Other duties will include general maintenance and servicing, parking control, assisting mountain guests and a general good sort. This is a live on mountain role and accommodation will be provided.
| Ski Patrol/ Snow safety
Duties include: ensuring a
safe and enjoyable ski area environment for all guests and staff. To maintain
and promote the highes possible standards of service, safety and
professionalism. It is essential that applicants possess; Professional Ski Patrol/
Snow safety experience; Pre-hospital Emergency Care qualification; Avalanche
Safety Stage One or higher qualification; Snow blasting approved handler
| Part time positions
We are also looking for lift
operators, ski hire staff and qualified instructors for half day and full day
work, especially on weekends and during the holidays.

The visas can be applied for through the New Zealand Embassy of your country. Note that the visa must be applied for in your home country – working holiday visas are not issued once you are in New Zealand.

We can assist staff in finding accommodation in the St Arnaud area, though all employees are responsible for finding their own accommodation for the season unless otherwise specified by management. Transport from St Arnaud to and from the ski area is provided.
